So what is SkillHer exactly?

SkillHer is a corporate social responsibility initiative of Edgetechies, an ICT services and consulting company based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. It is a platform where girls and young women from different walks of life are empowered to create opportunities for themselves and people who depend on them. Through a series of training programs, skill acquisition workshops, mentorship, and networking events, girls and women are equipped to earn a decent living through an array of carefully curated skills. They are thereby enabled to support themselves and their families, as the case may be.

What happens at SkillHer?

The SkillHer Initiative strives towards its goals with three programs.

1. SkillHer Meet.

A monthly hangout where empowered young ladies and women come together physically to learn, share, elevate one another, and discuss a variety of topics with subject matter experts in different fields. From financial management, to career development, to information and communication technology to business, the hangout happens once a month at the Learning Manifest Pod, Favos Building, Bodija, Ibadan.

2. SkillHer SAW

SAW (Skills Acquisition Workshop) is SkillHer’s skills training and development program where women across all age ranges learn different skills such as programming, web design, tailoring, catering, hairdressing, photography, graphic design, etc. All the skills learned are practical, tailored to individual learners’ interests and aptitudes and are also handled by recognized facilitators, such that a certification earned from SkillHer SAW is on par with the professional standards for such a skill. Joining the community is a pre-requisite to benefit from the workshop.

3. SkillHer Young

SkillHer Young offers girls and an inclusive platform that gives them a sense of belonging and helps them nurture their personal growth through specially designed programs and events filled with all sorts of fun and interactive activities. The girls are encouraged to explore their emotions, creativity, and individual strengths.
