CrediCorp kicks off Project S.C.A.L.E.

The Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CrediCorp) is pleased to kick off Project S.C.A.L.E. (Securing Consumer Access for Local Enterprises). Project S.C.A.L.E. is an initiative to grow Nigeria’s local industries by channeling our credit-backed consumers (target: 1 million) to purchase goods and services of local vendors and manufacturers.

Project Scale will focus on the following sectors:

  1. Home Improvement (Furniture, Appliances, Building Materials):
  2. Mobility (cars, buses, keke, bicycles – esp. CNG & Electric)
  3. Electronics (Digital Devices including smartphones, tablets, laptops, fostering participation in the digital economy).
  4. Energy Solutions (Generators, Solar, etc):
  5. General Merchandise (Apparel & Textiles, Healthcare, Food & Beverage).

DevFest Ibadan is the flagship annual conference organized by Google Developer’s Group Ibadan. Now in its 5th edition, DevFest Ibadan has grown in scale and impact over the years, attracting thousands of attendees from across Oyo State and beyond. The conference is a celebration of innovation, knowledge-sharing, and community building. It provides a platform for tech professionals, students, and enthusiasts to learn.

This year’s event will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Aweni Hall, 111 Ijebu Bypass, Ibadan.

FactCheckAfrica Launches New Curriculum

FactCheck Africa, an initiative of Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative has built a fact-checking curriculum, designed to empower students in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions with cutting-edge journalism tools and skills, including the integration of artificial intelligence in fact-checking. This curriculum, developed to align with international best practices, positions Nigeria at the forefront of fact-checking education across Africa.

The curriculum was presented for validation at the 25th International Conference of the African Council for Communication Education (ACCE) at Baze University, Abuja, from November 12-15, 2024. Additionally, we’re currently working on collaborating with The Association of Communication Scholars & Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN) to further validate its impact. We’re excited about the powerful role this curriculum will play in advancing media literacy and fact-checking standards in Nigeria and beyond.
