On Our Radar is our new feature spotlighting emerging startups and innovative tech products that are making waves in their industries. From fresh founders building solutions to everyday challenges to groundbreaking tools redefining how we work and live, this series gives you a front-row seat to the next big thing. Stay tuned as we explore the stories, products, and people you’ll want to watch closely.

In public discourse, online delivery service are generally  regarded as urban luxuries, a way for people with disposable income and a lack of time to visit  (or perhaps a disinterest in visiting) physical stores to buy what they need. While of course there an element of facilitating accessibility (especially for underserved communities) and building social impact that online delivery services offer with their services, but by and large, the marketing is often targeted at people in metropolitan hubs who believe they are too valuable to undergo the day to day hassles of buying goods.

Mealfed, a new food, grocery, and medicine delivery platform, is taking the social impact and building community accessibility in local communities a lot more seriously.

Launched in Saki, Oyo State on the 1st of September 2025 , Mealfed hopes to empower local vendors by expanding visibility and
reach beyond their physical locations and connecting local
food vendors to a wider base of customers; enhance access, to goods by allowing families, students, and
workers to order the things they need with ease, giving convenient
access to meals at their fingertips; ensuring that services remain accessible, affordable and without compromising quality, while also creating jobs, micro-business opportunities, and digital inclusion within underserved
communities.

The brand is certainly walking its talk by starting in a “off the beaten track” town like Saki of all places, and while it is early days, it will be interesting to see if and how Mealfed will pull off it’s bold and potentially game-changing vision. We will be following this brand with some interest

Mervii

Mervii is a smart express delivery and logistics service.

With an exclusive gateway for delivery optimisation for e-commerce, Mervii provides infrastructure for e-commerce start-ups and SMEs to scale operations, efficiently accept payment, and fulfil orders conveniently. With Mervii’s automated infrastructure businesses can reduce operation costs for fulfilling orders by 40%, and efficiently meet the customers’ demand.

Mervii believes their platform is able to implement real-time tracking, streamline complex logistics operations, or integrate secure payment processing, and the platform’s comprehensive suite of endpoints provides the flexibility and performance necessary to support your digital transformation initiatives.

Mervii is based in Ibadan, a city that is not short on logistics services, so they have some way to go in terms of value differentiation, but their value proposition is interesting. We will be following up on them with interest.
