Ibadan’s tech ecosystem is steadily growing, but like many emerging tech hubs, it still grapples with inclusivity and equal access—especially for women. Across the city, women-led communities are stepping up to close this gap by creating safe, supportive spaces where women can learn, connect, and thrive in technology. These communities are not just building skills; they are reshaping the narrative, showing young girls and underserved women that they, too, belong in tech and can lead in it.
So either you are a female techie/tech enthusiast looking for an initiative to help you launch and support your tech career, a tech leader/innovator looking for women to mentor, or an organization looking to implement projects for women in tech, here are FIVE(5) women-led communities who have a presence in Ibadan that are driving this change, and for building a more inclusive and innovative tech ecosystem for women.
SkillHer
SkillHer is a women led community where girls and young women from different walks of life are empowered to create opportunities for themselves and people who depend on them. Through a series of training programs, skill acquisition workshops, mentorship, and networking events, girls and women are equipped to earn a decent living through an array of carefully curated skills. They are thereby enabled to support themselves and their families, as the case may be.
SkillHer is currently running 3- Week Bootcamp in partnership with the Development Research and Project Centre The Bootcamp has been imparting skills to young women in three areas Digital Skills, Entrepreneurial Skills and Communication, Leadership & Personal Growth. SheTech Alliance Africa
SheTech Alliance Africa is an organization focused on promoting the digital inclusion of women in Africa. They aim to empower women through various initiatives, including tech summits, workshops, and mentorship programs. Their work emphasizes fostering gender diversity and providing women with the skills needed to succeed in the digital age.
EmpowerHer Tech Initiatives
EmpowerHer Tech Initiatives is a nonprofit organization committed to bridging the gender gap in technology. The organization’s mission is to empower women and girls to thrive in tech careers by breaking down barriers, equipping them with essential digital and technical skills, and building a strong, supportive community.
In the past year, the initiative have reached over 2,000 students across five schools through its Technology Awareness Program, provided hands-on computer-based test training to more than 200 students, and equipped over 200 women with valuable digital skills.

SheCode Africa
She Code Africa is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering and celebrating girls and women in technology across Africa. The goal of the organization is to birth an Africa workplace where women are equally represented across all career roles in Tech.
The organization’s current project is a 1-week physical training program for young women aged 16–35 from underserved communities in Oyo State, holding in Oluyole, Ibadan This beginner-focused initiative aims to equip participants with foundational digital skills, including basic computer use, email setup, and practical applications of online tools for education, entrepreneurship, and employment readiness. Herdacity Network
The HERdacity Network is a bold, remote only community of women in tech using LinkedIn to build personal brands, grow their careers, and lead with confidence.
Founded in 2025 the community’s mission is to help ambitious Nigerian women show up audaciously in their careers by providing resources for personal branding, goal-setting, content creation, and access to job and scholarship opportunities.
