Last year we put out a call for contributors, inviting subject matter experts and people interested in sharing their journeys in various tech fields with the ecosystem. We are delighted to announce our newest guest contributor on Techies Node, Obafela Killa.

Obafela is a three-time founder, writer, and rising voice in Africa’s tech and innovation space.

He is the founder and CEO of Nexus Data Intelligence (NDI), an AI & Data Solutions Platform powering Africa’s digital transformation through intelligent systems, youth empowerment, and proprietary AI products. NDI trains young Africans in high-demand fields like Data Science, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence, while building tools that help organizations scale with data.

He also leads NexaVida Plus, a HealthTech startup developing the infrastructure to unify healthcare data across Africa. From faster emergency response to better care coordination, NexaVida is on a mission to save lives through connected health systems.

Obafela is the founder of the Africa Development Summit (ADS), a fast-growing youth initiative that equips youths with the mindset, skills, and resources to become transformational leaders. ADS offers mentorship, investment, and hands-on training to build a new generation of changemakers across the continent. He is also the voice behind The Builders Journal, a bold, perspective-shifting blog and newsletter where he writes on politics, entrepreneurship, innovation, and the systems shaping Africa’s future. Through writing, he challenges readers to move from passive awareness to active nation-building.

As part of his growing influence in tech journalism, Obafela serves on the editorial board of Atlantic Digest, a U.S.-based platform focused on Africa’s evolution. He contributes to its Tech Section, spotlighting breakthrough ideas and innovation from across the continent.

A self-taught programmer who began coding at age 13, Obafela now combines deep technical insight with storytelling and systems thinking. He is a member of the Harvard Business Review Advisory Council, a recognized founder on Microsoft for Startups, and serves as Technology Entrepreneurship Leader at the Ibadan Entrepreneurship Network, where he mentors early-stage tech and non-tech entrepreneurs.

Across everything he builds and writes, Obafela Killa is on a mission to develop people, businesses, and systems that move Africa from potential to power.
